There are three kinds of pistols in the airsoft world: spring powered pistols, gas powered pistols, and AEG airsoft pistols. The spring powered variety are by far the cheapest of the three. They are also, in many respects, the most trouble-free and dependable of the batch.
The gas powered pistols are the pickles in the middle: not as expensive as the Aeg Airsoft Pistols at the top, but usually at least twice what the spring powered pistols cost; and here's the interesting thing. The more I think about it, the more I start to believe that the gas powered pistols are the most impressive, from a danger standpoint.
So What About AEG Airsoft Pistols?
Without a doubt, there are some really great AEG airsoft pistols on the market. Throughout this site, you will see me make reference to them repeatedly. But as my research and experience have deepened, I have come to the following conclusion (which runs contrary to popular opinion).
I now believe that the pistol is the one area where electric airsoft weapons are not the best. Rifles? Yes. Assault rifles? Definitely. Machine guns? Without a doubt in the world. But pistols? No. AEG airsoft pistols can do the job; but if you ask me, spring for the spring or the gas.
