Air gun dealers have made remarkable strides over the past 15 years in reaching far flung consumer bases. As the sport of Airsoft has expanded out from East Asia to Europe and the United States, a growing consumer demand for awesome Airsoft weapons has invigorated air gun dealers. With the advent of e-commerce shopping, this lucrative market promises to expand even further.

Air Gun Dealers face a number of challenges related to technological innovations. Airsoft hobbyists wish to expand their arsenals to include the latest makes and models from major gun manufacturers. Yet tournament players want only the most reliable and efficient weapons for their skirmish play. Meeting the needs of both consumer types requires real strategic thinking on the part of dealers.

Challenges Facing Air Gun Dealers
As well, new Airsoft technologies place further burdens on both manufacturers and distributors. Innovative synthetic polymers, softer and more easily loadable BBs, and more durable locking and firing mechanisms appear on the market every year. Consumers who bought their products in the mid-1990s now find their old guns practically obsolete. Their frustration with this technology-induced turnover is palpable.

There is hope for a more equitable tournament playing field, however. Skirmish directors are more rigorously enforcing regulations nowadays. Moreover, players themselves have gotten into the act. The standardization of Airsoft league play won't come easily--after all, Airsoft is, by in large, an amateur sport--yet Airsoft advocates believe that the expansion of the sport to new markets will only prove beneficial in the long run.
