The Airsoft Ammo of choice is the BB. Almost all Airsoft weapons deal in that currency. From there, the main difference lies in weight and materials.
Many Airsoft guns work just fine with 6mm plastic BBs. In fact, that would be the industry standard. Many serious shooters, however, prefer metallic BBs for their accuracy in flight.
Airsoft Ammo In Flight
One of the great advantages of Airsoft over paintball (or, for that matter, real live ammunition) is the cost of Airsoft ammo. Whereas paintballs cost around nine bucks for 200, and the cost of live ammo is off the charts, you can pick up 1000 6mm BBs for under eight bucks. That's incredible savings.
There are many fine manufacturers of Airsoft ammo. You can find them with a click of the mouse. So lock and load, soldier! You're going to have a great time.
