I'm not sure what to tell you about Airsoft grenades. There are so many conflicting stories, swirling about. Very few offer much in the way of confirmation.
Yes, there are clear plastic "hand grenades" filled with BBs, which are essentially grenade-shaped BB dispensers. They look cool, in a candy-colored sort of way, but it's not like they blow up or anything. These are readily available, for right around $5.

Then there are stories of Airsoft grenades being developed overseas, but not yet released here. The details on these are stories are sketchy (at best) to non-existent (at worst). They are allegedly non-pyrotechnic, non-lethal, and can be launched from grenade launchers or "detonated" with a pull of the pin.
But if they don't actually explode, then what do this so-called Airsoft grenades actually do? As of this writing, I'm just not sure. All I can say is, five bucks will get you a bunch of BBs in a plastic dispenser that looks like a toy grenade.
